How to download the app and log in

How to create your team

This video is for our Witchcraft & Wizardry events, but the same principles apply!

Starting the game

1. On the team info screen click enter map and follow the on screen prompts to start the game.

Now, you'll see the game introduction which you can read at your own pace. Once you're done, press 'continue' and you'll be on the map!

2. To begin, you need to be at your start location which you can find in your pre-game email. When you’re in the right place, press start to begin. Pressing 'start game' outside of the marked zone will result in a time penalty.

Once the game has started you will receive your first quest and the map will open with a tutorial. Click through these to learn more. When you have finished the tutorials, the map will open with pinpoints for you to find. To continue playing, visit each point on the map and follow the prompts.

The navigation menu is in the top left corner of the screen.

1. The main menu takes you back to the app home page, where you can see your game card.

2. If you’d like to take a break, press 'pause', the game timer will stop and you can close the app.

When you’re ready to get back to the game, load the app, select your game card under ‘resumable games’, press ‘resume game’ and then click ‘un-pause game’.

Make sure you start in the same location as when you paused, otherwise, you will receive a time penalty.

3. The team leader can forfeit the game if they no longer wish to continue. Be warned - this cannot be undone and will end the game for your team permanently!

4. If someone else in your team wants to be team leader, all they need to do is press ‘take leadership’ and click ‘accept’. You can change leadership as many times as you want. The team leader can unlock points of interest, start challenges and manage your inventory.

5. For any additional help needed throughout the game, hit 'tutorials' for hints, tips and how - to's.

6. If you need to add a player after you have started then use the team management option. Just click 'add team member' and have them scan the QR code on their phone. You can do this at any time during the game.

Under 'team management' you can also see stats like time played and any bonuses or penalties you incur.

7. FAQs will take you to our Frequently Asked Questions webpage where you can find the answers to any questions you may have.

8. The last few options are Sound FX and amenities. Tap to toggle these elements on and off.

The main screen

There are several options for you to interact with on this screen.

1. To view the bragging board, click your icon. Here you can see how you stack up against your team mates and how quickly other teams completed the game in your city!

2. Open the inventory to see all the items you’ve collected and convert your extra items into a different type.

3. Throughout the game, you might earn time tokens. To review these, click the icon.

4. To read through the tutorials again, press the question mark.

5. In the top right, you’ll see a little crown. This will be gold if you are the team leader. If you’re not the team leader, this will be darkened. To take leadership, simply tap the crown.

6. If for any reason you need to refresh your location, press the target icon. And to reorientate your map, press the compass.

Follow your map and head to the points of interest to take part in challenges and collect your required items.

You can press any pin you’ve already visited to review it.

2. To interact with icons on the map, walk towards them until you are inside the target circle. Once your team leader is close enough, the challenge description will appear.

3. Some challenges will involve only the team leader, whereas others will need the whole team to take part.

If the team leader is completing a solo challenge, they will see the Solo Lobby. In group challenges, you will all see the Team Lobby.

Team leaders are automatically included in challenges, but team members will need to click 'join' to take part.

4. In some challenges, you’ll have the option to change the difficulty. You may also have several attempts to complete each challenge.

If the majority of your team win or answer correctly, you defeat the challenge!

5. To finish the game, you'll need to collect a certain number of items in each category.

If you have too many of one and not enough of the other, you can use the synthesizer to convert your extra items into the ones you need. You can find this in the inventory panel.

Penalties and end of game leaderboard

1. As you play, you may receive time penalties for: starting outside the start location; unlocking a point of interest before reaching it; forfeiting a challenge; getting the wrong answer; or not finishing a challenge.

If you incur a time penalty, the number of minutes added will appear on screen. This can vary depending on the action.

2. Once you’ve won all of the items required, the end of game statement will appear summarizing how long you took and how many time tokens you won. Click through for a final look at the bragging board, take the opportunity to grab a team photo and screenshot your scores!
